Photoshop To Carry In Your Purse: Paul & Joe Beauté Pressed Powder Compact

I hate to wear heavy makeup. I wear only the minimum amount necessary, which is very little. My go-to “face make up”  for every day is my handy dandy Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base. It gives just the right amount of easy to control sheer coverage, and my skin doesn’t hate it. It has a gorgeous and luxe heavy compact however, and I don’t always want to carry it in my purse. So I’m always looking for blotting alternatives for on the go oil control. I had the opportunity to try Paul & Joe’s Pressed Face Powder and boy am I glad I did.

I’ve love pressed powders, God knows over the years I’ve accumulated many. The only one I have every really loved is Guerlain Meteorites Voyage – the pressed version of Les Meteorites. I have the super duper heavy metal compact that is nice for fancy occasions, but it is a very lightweight powder with practically zero colour. Which is fine when that is all you want or need. Many pressed powders I try are just ok but super expensive, or barely ok and super not worth the effort. In the spirit of giving it the old college try, I took the darling little the pouffe that comes with it and gave it a tap on my t-zone. It’s been hot and humid and my face looks shiny by midday. Well, colour me amazed and impressed. I have it in shade 05, which appears to be the perfect match for my skin. Not too dark, and not too light – the Goldilocks of pressed powder shades, if you will. The powder is super finely milled so my skin never looks “powdery”, just airbrushed.

I can’t imagine not having this beauty in my bag. The compact is beautiful, almost Guerlain-esque in it’s retro prettiness. It is plastic, which means super light. The powders are refills so you aren’t buying the whole deal every time. Verdict? LOVE.
