Spring is here officially, and even if the weather isn’t spring-like where you are, you can bring some of the sunshine coast to your beauty routine with essie’s spring 2017 collection full of happiness and bright colours.
Essie Global Color Designer Rebecca Minkoff helped to inspire this landscape of spring nail colors with Baja, California in mind. “The sapphire waves crashing on the sandy shore and the brilliant, creamy pink sunsets over the cactus-filled desert provide the perfect backdrop for a selfie or two,” Minkoff said.
Is it just me or does anything related to the California coast make me think of Monterey and Big Little Lies? I am riveted to that show and progressively more stressed out with each episode. The stars of this show are brilliant actresses, all of them. I’m so happy to see theses traditionally big screen actors on the small screen. What a treat.
I found all of these Essie shades to apply evenly and levelled well. I did not expect to fall head over heels in love with b’aha moment, the sexiest and prettiest hot pomegranate pink I have ever worn, and smoking hot on fingers and/or toes. Pictured below in direct and indirect light. I can see the beautiful and intense Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) wearing this sexy twist on a classic red mani.
The soft plumeria pink of backseat besties is a lovely flattering creamy shade of pretty. I know it’s not a child’s colour , but I can see the cheeky daughter of Madeline, Chloe, dancing and singing in this happy colour .
I feel in LOVE with excuse me, sur, a perfect sun-kissed coral mango. I loved the way it looked against my skin tone, and how it has a slightly dusty vibe. Love me a dusty. It does look pinker on nails than in the bottle. The ethereal and beautiful Celeste would wear something soft and low key like excuse me, sur.
The rich sapphire indigo blue of all the wave is a fun way to take a darker mani and make it a little brighter. It’s a dark blue , but more blue than dark and does make one think of some slightly stormy seas. Can you guess who I’d put in this shade? For sure – Jane (Shailene Woodley). The constant references to her walking along the beach, in shock, and her [understandably] dark moods make this moody shade perfect for her.
The happy leafy green of on the roadie would be perfect for Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) and would probably match one of her yoga instructor outfits or some of her pottery. It’s a happy colour !
The dramatic plum sangria shade of designated dj would be a perfect shade for the explosive Renata (Laura Dern). I love this dark vampy purple, which is a little deeper and darker than a classic red mani. I can totally picture Renata wearing this shade that day when she visited her husband at the office…. 😉
