CHANEL’s Spring 2017 Beauty Collection created by Lucia Pica is based on the simple and beautiful colour aesthetic that Coco Chanel applied to her life and her business. These are the “Coco Codes” for beauty and I love them. This collection celebrates this simple idea and makes CHANEL simple elegance easy and gorgeous.
“Red, black, gold, white, beige: these are the secret codes of CHANEL Beauty”

So, what are the Coco Codes for Spring 2017? Gorgeous! I always think of Coco’s love for neutrals and how when we whittle down our beauty to the basics, we end up with understated elegance. This makeup collection is just that. There is room to play and to add oomph if you want to amp it up, but soft natural shades are my jam so this collection suits me just fine.
The Harmonie de Blush features both matte and satin in this gorgeous powder blush compact that also works as a bronzer and highlighter. Gorgeous peach, honey, caramel and pink-red shades compliment most skin tones.
The Joues Contraste Blush in Elegance is stunning! It’s a perfect h0neyed golden beige blush that reminds me of my old favourite from Lancome, Miel Glacee. It’s a warm neutral shade with golden undertones and a touch of shimmer. It’s never glittery or a shimmer overdose, and gives a glowing, lit from within blush.
The eye shadows, while not exclusively beige, red and white, are still gorgeous and elegant. Neutral and natural with a twist. These shadows are incredible – they melt into the skin, blend like a dream and wear beautifully. I gasped when I swatched them, thinking that they may be the most beautiful shadows I have ever tried. Like silk!
I’m a giant fan of the CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine lipstick-lip balm hybrids. They are sheer and gorgeous and moisturize lips while adding a wash of colour . The limited edition Rouge Coco Shine in Noir Moderne is a chocolate vampy shade that just looks rich on lips, leaving behind a just bitten dark berry stain. If you love Clinique Black Honey, then you MUST try this. Get it while you can!
The Coco Codes Le Vernis is kind of fun, and these are the gel polishes so the wear is amazing. Rouge Red is a classic red, with a grey sheer top coat to play with the colour . I feel like CHANEL has enough red polishes already, and was kind of surprised by this one. It’s great but not a must have. Black Metamorphosis is a sheer top coat to change the tint – limited edition and fun! I did not swatch it on it’s own and must do that soon. I’ve seen it online and it is a gorgeous grey jelly, and I love a good jelly polish!
