I am just LOVING some beauty items lately. I am loving many, and am waiting for full test drives before reviewing (hello, Charlotte Tilbury Skincare – from heaven…Jouviance….) but right now these beauties are captivating me!
If you read the Internet you know about Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, as it’s been causing a sensation! I’ve been taking the line for a test drive and have fallen deeply in love with the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher. Charlotte Tilbury is famous for the “glow” she imparts on those who sit in her makeup chair. She wanted to recreate the gorgeous flush we get when we’re in love, the “love glow” she calls it, with her “Swish and Pop” method. I have Sex On Fire, which is a bronzed mauve-y rose and gives a perfect glowy blush. The finish of the blush has such lovely finish, using finely milled powder with a pearly luminosity. She advocates using the two shades in the blush separately but I am perfectly happy swirling them together.
Amore Pacific is a niche Korean beauty line with the cult-favourite, the Color Control Cushion Compact. It uses breakthrough game-changer technology, which is a unique air cushion format. The product is weightless and amazingly sheer, with buildable coverage. I was interested in how those with oily skin seem to love and rave over this product, and, it offers SPF 50 broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. It fills rather than “settles” into lines, and is always – miraculously – even coverage. It’s full of water and feels cool on the skin. Oddly, it has silicones, yet my skin seems to love it, so if silicones and acne are problematic for you, don’t be afraid to try this! If my skin hasn’t flipped out, yours may not either. Seriously, this is the most weightless and perfectly sheer product I have used on my skin, that improves the appearance of the skin while protecting it. I get almost no breakthrough shine, and unless I’m really sweating, I barely need to touch up. The only complaints I have read online is regarding the lack of shades, and the fragrance. I can smell the Amore Pacific “scent” in their skincare and it is fairly noticeable. I notice it for a moment or two with the Cushion Compact, and then it’s gone, so it obviously does not bother me. If you are sensitive to fragrance, you should definitely try before you buy. I swatched it quite heavily on the inside of my arm below so you could see it – notice it has zero grease or “thickness” to it. It just makes you skin glow, as it improves the texture of the skin vs covers it up. It’s like a treatment. I’m not sure how it would be on dry skin – again, best to try first if in doubt.
YSL Volupté Tint In Oil has been around for awhile now, but man, I cannot get enough. It is the perfect “your lips but better” product, and actually delivers a colour payoff. No, it is not lipstick, and it is not opaque. It is not really a gloss, as it isn’t sticky. It makes my lips noticeably softer, and even when the shine is gone, there is a soft colour deposit on the lips. I use one of the lighter shades, Rose You, but find it gives my lips the perfect pink-kiss glow.
Charlotte Tilbury is available at Holt Renfrew as of the end June in Canada, and at select retailers in the US – more info here. Amore Pacific is sold at Holts and Nordstrom in Canada, there is a store locator on their website. YSL is sold at major department stores and at Sephora.
