Every time I watch Mad Men I want to emulate ALL OF THE THINGS on the show. The decor, the fashion, and of course, the beauty. Lately I’ve had my eyes on the manis. Join me on my journey as I fall down the Marc Jacobs Beauty rabbit hole.
Betty has always been demure with her cosmetic choices – a classic Hitchcock Blonde, with an icy beauty I just adore. When I first applied Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Daisy, I knew I’d found the perfect Betty Draper Mani. It’s that soft 60s-70s pearly finish, but with a modern subtlety and “almost applies itself” formula. It’s so perfect, and I could wear it every day. It’s kind of a “mannequin hands” colour, but also elegant. You can see that two coats still leaves a slightly VNL (visible nail line) but I like that. You could use three coats for full opacity.
This is two coats, with one coat of OPI Nail Envy base coat and Essie Good To Go quick dry topcoat, under natural daylight. Isn’t it gorgeous?
Then there is Joan. I love Joan. Always have. We know she smells amazing (Guerlain Shalimar), and her intelligence is only outweighed by her charm. I admire the Joans of that era, who had to fight to be heard. You go girl. Of course, Joan usually sports a drop dead sexy red polish – sexy but means business. I can’t think of a better red than Marc Jacobs Enamoured polish in Lola. Love it! A bright rich tomato red that would be flattering on many skin tones.

What other Mad Men styles do we love?
I get my Marc Jacobs Beauty at Sephora.
