I love love love perfumed body products. Oils, lotions, creams and mists are all gorgeous ways to wear a perfume a little differently. Perfumed bath and body products are an easy way to give perfume as a gift as well. If you know what perfume someone wears, you can simply go out and get them a lotion, bath oil, or hair/body mist in the corresponding fragrance. They are like little luxuries we may not be able to justify for ourselves that make perfect gifts.
Perfumed bath and body products are also an alternative way to perfume ourselves that may be a little softer or “crowd friendly” as these products tend be a little softer than actual perfumes.
Fragrance body oils are perfection for those wanting a softer scent. They warm up softly on skin and never project their scent too far, as well as soothing and softening skin at the same time.
CHANEL recently relaunched their No5 oil as The Body Oil. In the past they have had bath oils, the tri-level one being notably gorgeous. No5 The Body Oil comes in a gigantic 6.8oz spray bottle and it’s limited edition so get it while you can!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my ongoing obsession with CHANEL No5 Hair Mist. It was on counter in Canada several years ago as a holiday release, and has been off counter ever since. Of course, I did not buy it, and have been obsessing over it ever since. It’s on the US CHANEL website, but another Canadian blogger and I have been crying over the fact that they do not take Canadian credit cards, making it impossible for us to get what is not on counter! Honestly, if you love No5 and see the No5 Hair Mist, get it. It’s a gorgeous and soft way to wear No5. Stunning.
If you look around, you’ll find several perfumes have hair mists to go with. I think this is an amazing idea, and a great way to extend a shampoo, eliminate environmental odours from hair (cooking, smoke, etc) or just a different way to wear perfume. Sephora has a great selection of perfumed hair mists to choose from.
I am obsessing about the new scent from Sarah Jessica Parker, Stash. It’s woodsy, sexy mysterious and unisex vibe sounds way more like her magical perfume layering recipe we heard about (before she launched Lovely) where she layered Comme de Garcons Incense Series Avignon with Skin Musk Oil + an Egyptian Musk Oil from a New York street vendor (Abdul Kareem Egyptian Musk perhaps?). SJP Stash Hair & Body Elixir is my kind of perfume idea. It’s made to be smoothed on skin like an oil, tapped on pulse points, run through hair, or even add a few drops to your bath. What! I bet you could put some into an unscented body lotion or cream as well. GAH! I love this idea and wish more perfumes came as essences or elixirs.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the original perfumed bath oil, the perfumed bath oil to rule them all, Estee Lauder Youth Dew Bath Oil. It’s how she famously started her business. Estee herself was selling little bottles of Youth Dew liquid gold off a table in a department store, and one “accidentally” spilled, filling the air with the then unknown scent of heavenly Youth Dew (you love it or you don’t – I do!) which brought the women over in droves with their open wallets. The rest is history.
My mother’s best friend, my dear Aunt Carole, has worn Youth Dew Bath Oil as perfume since I can remember. I will always associate that scent with the loving hugs I got from her. Wear it on skin or in hair, or sail away into heaven with a few drops in your bath. Estee Lauder Youth Dew Bath Oil is a must have for perfume lovers and collectors.
If you really want a soft scent, the alcohol free water based Benefit Bathina “All Over Me” Mist is a perfect choice for body and hair. It really smells like a soft bubble bath and I find it super sexy. The Bathina Body Oil is gorgeous, and I loved the scent of it so much, I was thrilled to find out it came in a mist. The bottle is as adorable as we have come to expect from Benefit, and the scent is pretty and definitely office and small space friendly.
Tom Ford recently released All Over Body Sprays for several of his most popular scents including Neroli Portofino, Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, Oud Wood and Tuscan Leather. I know scent is genderless, but I think the TF body sprays have a clean and modern style that would suit the vanity counter of even the manliest man. They are super light spray mists making them perfect for hair as well as skin. I think softer version of scents like Tuscan Leather and Noir de Noir are a great idea, as those are way too strong for noses like mine and likely for most office environments. They are also the perfect way to own a Tom Ford Private Blend scent for under $100. Win-win!
