I’ve been so curious about Violette_Fr since seeing it on the vanities of the chicest people I follow online. Not to mention that the founder is so effortlessly cool and gorgeous that I’d buy anything she says I need.
Violette Serrat is a French makeup artist who created her own line of perfect beauty basics including skincare. Her Boum Boum Milk moisturizing mist has people raving and for good reason. This milky moisturizing milk spray is different from anything I’ve used and has become a necessary part of my routine – morning and night. It’s a light watery texture, almost like a serum but is creamy enough to be a little lighter than a serum but heavier than a traditional mist. Perfect.
Violette herself has look at and worked on so many faces over her career, she wanted to create a simple routine to instantly hydrate & moisturize without irritating skin. She suffers from contact dermatitis herself and knew that sensitive and reactive skin needs gentle treatment.
Boum-Boum Milk instantly hydrates and just four spritzes on my face adds the perfect glow. I’m officially obsessed with this spray miracle and cannot imagine being without it.
Key ingredients:
FERMENTED BIRCH SAP: The hero ingredient comprising 38% of the formula, deeply hydrates skin while protecting its natural microbiome for calmer, less reactive skin, and better cell regeneration.
GLACIAL WATER: Charged with several key minerals that help skin rehydrate, rebalance, and recover.
SQUALANE: Restores the skin barrier while creating suppleness and bounce for softer and smoother skin.
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT: Reduces inflammation, nourishes and hydrates skin with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antifungal effects.
I use Boum Boum Milk right after the Blemish Clearing Serum which is perfect for addressing blemishes, congested pores, or too much shine. It’s full of skin calming ingredients as well making it perfect for sensitive skin.
Key ingredients:
ROSE MYRTLE: Helps fight blemishes and purify skin.
ALBATRELLUS CONFLUENS MUSHROOM: Works to soothe visible redness.
ZINC: Purifies pores and helps reduce shine.
I LOVE this serum and alternate it with my salicylic acid serums. Or use them together depending on how my skin feels. It’s the perfect daytime serum and of course works beautifully under the Boum Boum Milk.
I top it all off with C’est La Cream, which is a lush and rich without being unnecessarily greasy or thick. It’s the Goldilocks of face creams and is in my top 5 face creams. It makes my skin dewy and plump, never clogs my pores and is the perfect canvas for makeup if you feel like wearing any. I add a few bronzing drops after the Cream and sometimes that’s enough for the day.
They have a product called Invisible Bandage which is some kind of witchcraft. No wonder it won a Best of Allure Beauty award. Invisible Bandage is a viscous liquid that is exactly what it says it is. Apply a few drops to a blemish, minor cut or burn and it soothes, speeds healing and creates the perfect surface for makeup. But the way it speeds up the healing of blemishes is frankly amazing.
Violette_Fr was kind enough to include a bottle of her oil perfume, Avec Amour. I’m obsessed with how perfect the packaging is – in fact the entire line is elegant and perfect. The perfume bottle is a perfect blue to clear ombré glass, topped off with a heavy brass cap. So elegant and with a satisfying heft, it belies the gentle and soft (emphasis on both of those words) perfume oil. The goal of the perfume is a “skin scent”, sort of the French fancy equivalent of a musk oil. It’s gently sweet, with a hint of musk. The site says “musky amber, santal, and vetiver base notes with ylang-ylang middle notes and uplifting bergamot top notes”. It’s so soft it’s frankly hard to tell what notes are which or if they are even there. The base is a blend with coconut oil and while I’m sure it’s not meant to be part of the fragrance, it is. The coconut smell doesn’t last but in my opinion this perfume would be vastly improved by having a neutral base.
That said, I wear it often. It is a soft creamy comforting scent and perfect when I want to smell like warm clean skin. I love it but I haven’t really met a soft skin scent I don’t like.
I was sent these products for review and the reviews are my honest opinion. I guarantee I will be repurchasing them all. Well played Violette_Fr.
The price point of this line is not drugstore levels but more like luxury department store beauty.
