It’s hard to feel beautiful when you don’t feel well. Allergies, viruses, and the dreaded cold and flu season can sap the glow right out of us. I have a few things that are always close at hand to keep my beauty health at it’s optimum.
Emergen-C is a handy dandy little powdered drink in little packages of wonder that can be tossed in a purse, makeup and/or gym bag, shaving kit – you name it. I first discovered it when a friend gave me some the morning after a night of copious Champagne consumption, and I’ve been a believer ever since. Full of featuring essential nutrients, including 1,000 mg of vitamin C and other immune supporting antioxidants zinc and manganese, 7 B vitamins to enhance energy naturally, and electrolytes, Emergen-C boosts and supports the immune system while also hydrating your body. I try to drink enough fluids, I really do, but I don’t always succeed. And when we sweat, or are in a super dry environment, staying hydrated is tough. Lots of things happen when we are well hydrated. We have more energy, less headaches and just feel better. Our skin even looks better – hydrated skin glows and does not need to overproduce oil to compensate for being dry. There is always at least one in my purse. Toss it into a cup of water and boom – easy!
Hydrasense is one of my holy grail good health items. Like, never-without-it holy grail. I used to suffer chronic sinusitis several times a year. Anything could trigger it – allergy season, the common cold, dry air from central heating, flying (airplane air EW). One year, I was so sick while travelling with my family, my misery couldn’t take it anymore. A French pharmacist asked me if I was irrigating my sinuses regularly with saline rinses. I was not, and at the time I did not get how saline could save me. Being accustomed to antibiotic therapy to clear my throbbing head, “there is no medicine in it!” was what I thought. Wrong. One of the quickest ways to get sick is to have dry sinus cavities. A little crack or fissure in our sinuses makes it very easy for viruses to get in and breed. I never liked the idea of the Neti Pot because I sterile and super clean is important to me. In the seven plus years I’ve been using saline sprays, I can count on one hand the times I’ve been on antibiotics. Hydrasense is my favourite. I alternate between the Gentle Mist and the Medium Stream. If you’ve never used one before, a saline spray can feel a little like sticking a hose up your nose, so the Gentle Mist a great one to try first.
Fountain is a beauty supplement line from Deciem, one of my favourite beauty lines. The Hyaluronic Molecule is a concentrated beauty supplement with Hyaluronic Acid to keep your skin looking plump and happy from within. It contains a high concentration (130mg/2 teaspoons) of Hyaluronic Acid which is an anti-inflammatory, hydrating compound found readily in the skin, joints, eyes, and the brain. Beauty really does come from within and nourishing our body in turn nourishes our skin for that inner glow we all crave. I noticed a difference in my skin within a week of using The Hyaluronic Molecule. It tastes delicious & don’t ever want to be without it. Fountain The Beauty Molecule is next on my list to try!
Nature’s Bounty Hair. Skin & Nails Gummies saved my nails when my hormones went sideways last year. They are still heading sideways, up, down and around, but these Gummies have saved my poor peeling nails. The only thing that was helping was Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat but I still needed to get to the source of the issue, which was before the nails grow out. I chew two of these a day and my nails grow like crazy and are nice and hard. My hair has also been growing faster which may mean I need to touch up my roots a bit more but that’s ok!
What are your secrets for inner beauty? Share! I’d love to know.
