8 Soft Rose Blushes For A Natural Glow: No Makeup Makeup Series

These are my favourite soft and natural blushes that give a healthy glow that looks so real, it’s like you’re wearing no make up at all. I like to use them with a simple tinted moisturizer or mineral/powder foundation applied very lightly. Anything to make me look glowing and healthy, and NOT like I’m wearing a lot of makeup.

I’m going to be doing a No Makeup Makeup series, featuring my favourite makeup items that are the best for achieving a natural no makeup look. One of the reasons I like No Makeup Makeup is that is shows some skin. That sounds like an odd thing to say, but in this day of Instagram and YouTube influencers emulating the Kardashians and other media-savvy beauties who don’t post anything other than perfect photos, it’s an oddity to see someone wearing no makeup. It’s all about baking, contouring, highlighting, correcting, colour  correcting etc etc. Get the brush, paint on the foundation, get the sponge and dab on some more, then add layer upon layer of powder until what was once a lovely face is now a smooth mask of beige. And if it’s not makeup, its filters and photo editing. Kim K allegedly has a photo editor on permanent retainer, making six figures editing every single photo before she posts it.

Make Up For Ever HD Cream Blush

MUFE HD Cream Blush in Pink Sand ($33 CAD) is a soft rose-mauve shade that blends easily and lasts all day, and is a favourite in my makeup collection. I love to use a cream blush if my skin is feeling a bit dull or dry, as it keeps a dewy natural look.

Mistura 6 in 1 Beauty Solution Powder
Mistura 6 in 1 Beauty Solution Powder

Mistura’s 6 in 1 Powder ($56 CAD) is advertised as a multipurpose beauty solution to be used all over the face in place of foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer etc. I like it as a super natural bronzer/blush hybrid, and love the all over glow it gives me, it is sheer and easy to use. The packaging has changed to the black compact since I got mine. I prefer the new packaging for sure.

Becca Beach Tint in Fig

Becca Beach Tint in Fig ($30 CAD) is one of my all time favourite natural blushes. Seriously the colour  is so gorgeous and would work on fair to dark medium skin. Its a soft brownish tawny rose shade in a long lasting gel formula that melts into skin like a perfectly natural flush.

W3LL PEOPLE Universalist in Creamy Pink

I adore the W3LL PEOPLE Universalist Colour Stick blusher ($32 CAD) and it’s been a favourite since I tried it. I reviewed it here and said this “The Universalist in Creamy Pink is the Goldilocks of beauty sticks. Not too dark, not too pale, not too sparkly, not too dry. It applies like a dream, and Creamy Pink is a very soft and natural shade for my fair-medium skin”. Still applies! I love the gentle glowy shimmer of this blusher, it’s never too much.

Charlotte Tilbury has mastered the art of making our skin glow and that is exactly what her Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush in Ecstasy ($50 CAD) does. A perfect golden rose shade that puts roses in the cheeks and a soft glow that looks like it comes from within. I reviewed it along with some other gorgeous Tilbury golden goodies here.

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzer in Antigua

Bobbi Brown knows natural makeup and has created an entire empire of beauty by making women look like themselves, but better. She knows nude shades better than anyone and this bronzer is no exception. The Illuminating Bronzer in Antigua ($50 CAD) is sheer and build able, and don’t be fooled by the pink in the pan. I remember thinking how is this a bronzer? Well, it’s a rosy bronze and it’s perfect.

Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint in Very Charming

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this beauty before. I adore the Tata Harper Lip & Cheek Tint ($48 CAD) and use it all the time. I’m a fan of her line, and love everything I’ve tried. The green packaging is so cheery and makes me happy to look at it, and this tint is perfection. This shade is a soft rose mauve and is sheer and blendable with no shimmer. I love it on lips and cheeks, and the long lasting formula is also good for my skin with anti ageing ingredients. Can we have more makeup like this please? Love!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush in Flesh & Fantasy

Saving the best for last! Honestly this is such a beautiful product, I can’t even! Marc Jacobs Air Blushes Duos  ($57 CAD) are as soft and fluffy as air  and apply like a dream. This is where I can say modern technology has come a long way to perfecting the powder blush and elevating it to magical glowing skin level. If you love blush, you MUST try this line. Get thee to Sephora and try them for yourself – I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Flesh & Fantasy is a golden rose nude dream come true. And not only does it apply beautifully but it is made to last on skin.
