Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau took his sons to watch the official opening Canada Day ceremonies on Parliament Hill July 1, 1983 in Ottawa. Trudeau was an onlooker for the show, wearing a Panama hat and sneakers along with his three sons Alexandre (Sacha) , Justin and Michel.

I love this photo of PM Pierre Trudeau and his sons. I have fond memories of spending my Canada Day on The Hill, and remember one year (late 70s) I got really sick from sunstroke (lesson learned). St John’s ambulance took me backstage and I was carried past where the Prime Minister was sitting. He got up and asked me if I was ok. When I got to the ambulance back stage, Rene Simard came over and asked if I was ok. PM Trudeau AND Rene Simard? In my delirious state, it seemed like a dream!
