There is no question that remaining hydrated is part of having healthy skin. I know if I’ve been flying, or sick, or dehydrated for any reason, my skin looks dull and lack-luster. Staying hydrated combined with gentle exfoliation and a good skincare regiment is the best way to keep the skin moisturized and glowing. Almost all of my favourite skincare products contain hyaluronic acid, which is also a structural product in our skin and connective tissues. In quality skincare products (I said quality, not expensive…more on that in another post) the hyaluronic acid molecules are small enough to penetrate and plump up the skin adding moisture.
When we sweat, in hot weather or while exercising, our skin may look like it has a healthy glow, but losing that hydration doesn’t actually help our skin. Without replenishing the lost potassium and sodium electrolytes we lose from sweating, we may be making our skin vulnerable to dryness and dehydration. Sadly, we are not plants, and drinking water alone does not replenish our skin- we need to replenish our electrolytes.
Imagine if we could ingest our beauty routine? Well, at least part of it, in a complimentary fashion.
